Kakanin has always been part of the Filipino culture. In the countryside where I came from, I grew up eating most of this kakanin, especially in the morning. Our family had a favorite vendor who made various delicacies of kakanin. And until now we still eat Kakanin . This is probably one of the reasons why each time I am stressed or sad, I would normally look for kakanin- comfort food as they call it. Perhaps it’s not only the taste of the food that comforts me, but this food reminds me of how loving my parents were. Until we eat rice cakes we buy at the market every morning and when we have something left we make our family’s afternoon snack.
